Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Kannapolis, NC—The Kannapolis Intimidators are excited to announce the addition of Fernando Valenzuela Jr. to their roster. Valenzuela Jr. is the son of Fernando Valenzuela, the retired star pitcher and current broadcaster of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Junior comes to the Intimidators after three seasons in the Padres organization. As a first baseman, Valenzuela Jr. entered the 2006 season with a lifetime batting average of .286, with 28 homeruns and 210 RBI. While his father became the only pitcher to win the Cy Young Award as baseball's best pitcher and also the Rookie of The Year Award in the same season in 1981, the Intimidators have high hopes for their newest slugger.

The I's are home at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium until June 8th, for an 8-game homestand. Tickets are still available to see Fernando Valenzuela Jr. and the rest of the Intimidators. Game and season tickets are available by calling (704) 932-FANS or logging on to intimidatorsbaseball.com.
