Kannapolis, NC - The Greenville Drive scored five runs between the third and fourth innings Friday evening at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium en route to a 6-2 victory. The Intimidators jumped out to an early lead off Guyette by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. Brandon Allen led off with a single and advanced to third after back-to-back ground outs. Leonard Acosta then hit an infield single, scoring Allen. Brandon Johnson followed with an RBI triple, ending Kannapolis' scoring.
Greenville would strike back in the top of the third with three runs to overtake the Intimidators. Three straight singles by the Drive accounted for their first two runs. Christian Lara led off the inning with a bunt single and scored when Jay Johnson followed with a double. Dominic Ramos then laid down a bunt single. Johnson was able to score on Kannapolis pitcher Ricky Brooks throwing error.
The Drive would extend their lead to 5-2 with two runs in the top of the fourth. Chris Turner led off with a double and three batters later Johnson reached base with a two-out walk. Both runners would score as Ramos doubled to left.
After four scoreless innings, the Drive added a run in the top of the ninth. Lara led off with a double and advanced to third on Johnson's single. A wild pitch during Ramos' at bat allowed Lara to score for Greenville's final run.
