FC Dallas News Release

Frisco, Texas - FC Dallas selected Nkosi Burgess (Seattle University, 14th overall) and Cal Jennings (University of Central Florida, 17th overall) in the first round and Manuel Ferriol (James Madison University, 40th overall) in the second round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.

"I'm really proud of the staff who do the research and do their homework" said head coach Luchi Gonzalez. "The draft this year required a lot of video that we were connecting with references, college coaches and certain scouts, so I thought the staff were very diligent in those roles. Not that it was easier, but it made the process effective, efficient, and we are very proud of the three draftees we selected."

Burgess, 22, was named 2019 WAC Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team with Seattle University. He scored one goal and recorded one assist in 20 appearances. He earned 18 starts with Seattle's backline and helped the Redhawks earn 10 shutouts and the regular season title. Prior to joining Seattle U, Burgess played three seasons with University of Connecticut, appearing in 46 matches, including 17 starts.

Jennings, 22, played four seasons at the University of Central Florida, where he scored 46 goals and recorded 16 assists in 64 appearances for the UCF Knights. Jennings has earned many recognitions within the past two seasons, including 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, AAC Offensive Player of the Year, USC All-East Region First Team and USC All-America First Team in 2018 and 2019.

Ferriol, 21, scored 30 goals and recorded 10 assists in four seasons with James Madison University. He played in La Liga team Levante UD's youth system from 2010 to 2016 before joining the Dukes. Ferriol was named CAA Player of the Year, All-CAA First Team, ECAC Player of the Year and USC All-Atlantic Region First Team in 2019.
