January 9, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC announced today that the club has signed defender Chris Mavinga to a new contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Chris is a player that has played a significant role in the success of the club over the past three years," said Toronto FC General Manager Ali Curtis. "He has excellent tools for the position - left footed, excellent speed, and loves competing in the biggest games. We are excited that Chris chose to extend his contract, and that he will be with the organization moving forward."
Mavinga, 28, originally signed with Toronto FC on January 31, 2017 and has made 86 appearances (combined) in three seasons for Toronto FC. He was part of Toronto FC's 2017 Treble winning side and a key part of the defence that set a club record of 13 clean sheets during the MLS regular season. Mavinga was also part of TFC's 2018 Canadian Championship winning team and the 2019 MLS Eastern Conference championship team.
