Father and Daughter win 50/50 at Blades Home Finale
March 21, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
It was an unexpected surprise for Ross Wiebe and his daughter Carly.
"When we saw the numbers, we had to double check," said Ross, after he found out they won the 50/50 at the Blades home finale, which paid the duo $67,207.50. "Wow. I just can't believe it."
The pair split the cost of the tickets, and were ecstatic when their numbers came up.
"I still can't believe it," said Carly. "I've never won anything like this. I'm just in shock."
Asked what they plan to do with the money?
"Oh not too much, to be honest," said Ross. "Probably pay some bills, put it in the bank, help out some family."
His daughter was a little more enthusiastic.
"I'm going to Thailand! And I have student loans to pay. This money is life changing, and I'm just so, so happy. We come to Blades games a lot, and I've never won. Looks like we'll be coming back!"
