Rebels Score 4 in Third Period; Win 6-2 over Edmonton

EDMONTON, AB - The Red Deer Rebels started off the home and home series with the Edmonton Oil Kings with a 6-2 win Friday at Rexall Place. The Rebels had four unanswered goals in the third period to pull away for the win.

The Rebels had a 1-0 lead after the opening twenty minutes with a shorthanded goal from Brooks Maxwell.

The Oil Kings tied the game early in the second period on a power play goal by Lane Bauer. The Rebels took a 2-1 lead when Riley Sheen scored. The Oil Kings answered back with a goal by Brandon Baddock and the game was tied 2-2. That was the score after two periods.

The Rebels blew the game open in the third period. Nelson Nogier, Wyatt Johnson (shorthanded), Connor Gay, and Riley Sheen all scored and the Rebels went on to a 6-2 win. Brooks Maxwell led the way offensively with 1 goal and 3 assists.

Taz Burman made 32 saves in the Rebels net; Tristan Jarry had 32 saves in the Oil Kings goal.

Red Deer was 0 for 1 on the power play; the Oil Kings were 1 for 7.

The Rebels will host the Oil Kings Saturday to close out the regular season. The game is a 7:00PM start at the ENMAX Centrium, the broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 6:30PM.
