March 21, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release

The Vancouver Giants were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Friday night after falling 4-3 to the Kelowna Rockets in overtime at Pacific Coliseum in their final home game of the 2014/15 regular season. Mason Geertsen, Dawson Holt and Alec Baer scored for Vancouver.

Geertsen gave the Giants the lead when he scored on a power play in the first period, netting his 13th of the season. Tyson Baillie equalized for the Rockets in the middle frame before Chance Braid gave Kelowna the advantage.

Holt netted his first WHL goal in the third period to tie the game at 2-2 before Baer put Vancouver ahead on the power play just after the midway mark. Leon Draisaitl pulled the Rockets back onto level terms with a power play goal of his own to send the game to overtime where Madison Bowey won it for the visitors on a man advantage with one-timer from the left circle.

The loss for Vancouver, coupled with a Tri-City Americans win over the Portland Winterhawks on the out of town scoreboard, officially eliminated the Giants from playoff contention.

The Giants will conclude the regular season on Saturday in Kelowna against the Rockets. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.
