Fargo's Late Game Comeback Falls Short

Tonight Fargo took on the number two ranked team in the Western Conference, the Tri-City Storm. Both teams have earned sixteen wins so far this season but Tri-City has had nine overtime games putting them ahead in the standings. The Force have been hot on a three game winning streak and were looking for a fourth, but at 2:45 in the first Tri-City's Nico Sturm snagged the first goal of the game. The Force were unable to get on the board in the first and entered into the second down 0-1.
Tri-City's forceful play continued into the second period as Monte Graham notched Tri-City's second goal at 4:08. Carson Meyer followed Graham's goal with one of his own at 6:50. After Tri-City's third goal, Robbie Beydoun entered the game to replace Ryan Wischow in net. Tri-City was called for interference when Grant Meyer was attacking their net resulting in Meyer being awarded a penalty shot. Meyer capitalized on the shot putting Fargo on the board, down 1-3. The Force fought back throughout the second and notched a goal with just ten seconds left in the period. Grant Meyer was credited with his second goal of the game, with the assists going to Blake Lizotte and Hank Crone.
The first half of the third period was filled with back and forth, tactical play but Tri-City prevailed with a power-play goal at 8:29, scored by Carson Meyer, putting the Storm up 4-2. Less than a minute after, Tri-City put the puck to the net once again. Tri-City's goal was credited to Alex Limoges. However, Fargo wasn't going down without a fight. After digging a 2-5, three-goal deficit they worked to dig themselves out with a minute left in regulation. The Force pulled their goalie and with 48 seconds to go in the third Hank Crone snagged an unassisted goal. Only 35 seconds later Charlie Gerard, assisted by Blake Lizotte, scored to bring the score up to Fargo 4, Tri-City 5. With only 13 seconds left in regulation the Force were unable to get a fifth goal and the Storm prevailed with a 5-4 win.
The Fargo Force and the Tri-City Storm are back to battle out again tomorrow night at Scheels Arena for Men's Night at 7:05pm. Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office open Saturday at noon, on tickets300.com, or at the Tickets300 location on Broadway.
