Muskegon Lumberjacks Fall to the Lincoln Stars 2-1

LINCOLN, NE - Nate Kallen netted his second of the season, and Joey Daccord made 24 saves, but the Muskegon Lumberjacks fell to the Lincoln Stars 2-1.

The Lumberjacks controlled the first portion of the first period, and newcomer Lucas Michaud quickly made his presence felt, leading the Lumberjacks with four shots in the first frame. However, the Stars forward Will D'Orsi netted the first goal of the game with a wrist shot from the slot, past Joey Daccord, to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. Muskegon closed out the first period with a couple power play opportunities, however they were unable to get any shots past Stars goaltender Peyton Jones.

The Lumberjacks had three more power play opportunities in the second period, and broke through to level the game at one. Nate Kallen received a backdoor pass from Will Graber and Michaud, before blasting the puck in the back of the net.

However, the Stars would respond with a power play goal of their own. D'Orsi scored his second of the game, to give Lincoln a 2-1 lead after two periods of play.

Muskegon peppered Lincoln in the third period, and were unable to get anything past Jones, falling to the Stars 2-1. Daccord made 24 saves on 26 shots, and newcomer Michaud led the Lumberjacks in shots with seven on the night.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks (14-16-4) will look to rebound next weekend when they host the Bloomington Thunder (20-11-3) for a pair of games. Friday, the Lumberjacks will feature their dollar beer and dollar dog night. Saturday, Muskegon will host their college night. Puck will drop at 7:15 p.m.
