Fargo-Moorhead Rallies For 10-9 Win Over Explorers

Fargo, ND-----Fargo-Moorhead rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning as they defeated the Explorers 10-9 at Newman Outdoor Field.

The RedHawks took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, but the Explorers came back and cut the lead to 3-2 scoring two runs in the third inning on singles by Anthony Kaskadden and Austin Gallagher. The Explorers would tie the game in the fourth inning on a RBI triple by Eddie Young.

In the fifth inning, Sioux City would score five runs to take an 8-3 lead. Bryan Pounds hit an inside the park two-run home run followed by a solo home run by Alberto Espinosa. The home run by Pounds was the second inside the park home run by the Explorers this season.

Fargo-Moorhead started their comeback scoring a single run in the six, three more runs in the seventh. The Explorers would extend the lead to 9-7 on a RBI base hit by Sam Judah, but the RedHawks would counter with a run in the bottom of the eighth to cut the lead to 9-8.

With the Explorers leading 9-8 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, Nic Jackson led off the inning with a home run off Chris Bodishbaugh to tie the game at 9-9. The RedHawks would load the bases with nobody out and after one out, a single by Mitch Einerston would plate the winning run and give Fargo-Moorhead the win in the final game of the season between the two teams.

The Explorers will start a six-home home stand Monday at Lewis and Clark Park with a single game against Gary SouthShore. Game time will be 7:05pm.
