Fresno Falcons News Release
LAS VEGAS - Derek Krestanovich scored 1:49 into overtime on the power play to deliver a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the Las Vegas Wranglers at The Orleans Arena.
Despite a 16-5 edge in shots through 20 minutes, Fresno still found themselves locked in a scoreless game entering the middle period. With exactly one minute left in the second, former Falcon Nathan Horne led a three-on-two up the left wing before finding Dan Tudin at the base of the right circle for the game's first goal.
Frustrated repeatedly by Las Vegas goaltender Marc Magliarditi, who would make 50 saves during the game, the Falcons finally found the equalizer on their sixth power play of the game well into the third period. Magliarditi stopped an effort from the point by Dustin VanBallegooie, but Terry Marchant put the rebound top shelf for his 13th of the year with just under six minutes remaining in regulation.
Fresno needed another power play to solve Magliarditi a second time. Skating four-on-three in the extra session after the Wranglers' Ryan Gaucher took a roughing penalty, Charles Simard set-up Krestanovich for his game-winner and 19th of the season from the base of the right circle.
Fourth-place Fresno peppered Magliarditi with a season-high 52 shots on goal as they snapped a two-game losing skid, running their record to 35-20-7 with 77 points. The club remains three points behind the third-place Long Beach Ice Dogs in the West Division standings and extended its lead over the idle fifth-place Idaho Steelheads to three points as well.
The Falcons return home on Tuesday, March 22, when they host the South Division's Gwinnett Gladiators. The game is a Carl's Jr. Two-for-Tuesday with coupons good for two-for-one tickets available at participating Carl's Jr. locations.
Regular priced tickets for the 7 p.m. tilt at Save Mart Center are on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at the Save Mart Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
