Titans Downed By Storm 5-3

TOLEDO, OH - Despite Scott Bertoli's second hat trick of the season, the Trenton Titans could not complete the comeback in a 5-3 loss to the Toledo Storm in front of 3,509 at Toledo Sports Arena. .

On a night where the Storm struck three times on the power play, Kevin Bergin broke the scoreless tie with a goal on the man-advantage 10:13 of the first.

Bertoli helped the Titans answer 2:21 later with his first marker of the evening, but Toledo would retake the lead when Scooter Smith tipped home his 10th goal of the season past Trenton goaltender Andrew Allen.

Toledo jumped to a two-goal edge 2:04 in the second period when Pierre-Luc Sleigher chipped in a power play tally.

Bertoli would again answer back for the Titans with his second of the night to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Storm, but Carl Mallette lit the lamp with Nick Deschenes in the penalty box to help Toledo retake a two-goal lead with just one minute remaining in the second period.

Bertoli completed the hat trick at 6:30 of the third period to pull Trenton within one goal, but Steve Slonina put the nail in the coffin with his fifth of the season that put his team up 5-3.

Andrew Allen turned away 17 of 22 shots as he falls to 21-10-3. The Titans were scoreless in four chances on the man-advantage, while going 3-for-6 on the penalty kill.
