Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons completed a weekend sweep as they toppled the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 5-3, this afternoon in a penalty filled contest at the Webster Bank Arena.

The Falcons wrapped up their first three-in-three road trip of the season with six points and improve to 9-7-1-0. The team also takes a 2-0-1-0 lead in the season series against the Sound Tigers. The loss snaps Bridgeport's five-game win streak and moves them to 10-4-0-1.

Springfield goaltender Anton Forsberg stopped 28 of 31 shots to pick up his second win in as many nights. Bridgeport netminder Kevin Poulin turned away 31 of 35. The Falcons converted on three of six power play opportunities, while only allowing one goal on seven Sound Tigers man-advantages. The teams combined for 206 penalty minutes with Bridgeport acquiring 113 and Springfield tallying 93.

Each team tallied one goal in the first period to enter the intermission tied, 1-1. After Forsberg made a save, the Falcons failed to clear the puck from the slot allowing Chris Langkow to get a stick on it and open scoring at the 7:22 mark. Brett Gallant and Scooter Vaughan assisted on the play.

Thomas Larkin tied the game midway through the period with a wrist shot from the high slot with the help of Kerby Rychel and Dana Tyrell.

The Falcons notched two goals in the second frame to take a 3-1 lead over the Sound Tigers. Lukas Sedlak netted the go-ahead goal at the 11:53 mark. Jaime Sifers ricocheted the puck off the end boards to Domenic Monardo at the bottom of the left circle. Monardo pushed the puck up to Sedlak, who one-timed it to take the lead.

Tyrell put the Falcons up by two with 2:52 remaining in the period. Mike Cornell let off a shot from the bottom of the right circle. Poulin made the save, but left the rebound out in the slot for Tyrell. Rychel earned a point for the secondary assist.

Bridgeport scored twice in the third period to tie the game, but the Falcons were able to rally and pull out a 4-2 victory. After three unanswered goals, the Sound Tigers finally responded 35 seconds into the third period. Just as Lukas Sedlak took a hooking penalty, Ryan Pulock struck on the power play off assists from Colin McDonald and Kael Mouillierat.

The Sound Tigers then evened the game with 4:22 remaining. McDonald wrapped the puck around the cage where Alan Quine picked it up in the corner. Mouillierat received a pass at the right post and shoveled the puck in for the tying goal.

Rychel netted the game-winner on the power play three minutes later. Marko Dano fired a shot from the top of the right circle that was stopped by Poulin. The netminder made another save on Ryan Craig's rebound shot, but was eventually beat by Rychel.

With 50 seconds remaining in the game, Dana Tyrell scored his second of the game with an empty net power-play goal off an assist from Trent Vogelhuber to defeat the Sound Tigers, 5-3.
