Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Center Dana Tyrell to Springfield

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Dana Tyrell to the Springfield Falcons, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Tyrell, 25, made his Blue Jackets debut on Nov. 8 vs. Tampa Bay and has averaged 6:56 of ice time in three games. The Airdrie, Alberta native has also collected five goals and four assists for nine points with six penalty minutes and a +7 rating in seven games with Springfield this season.

Acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade with the Lightning on Mar. 3, 2014, Tyrell has registered 24 points (7g, 17a) and 26 penalty minutes in 135 career NHL games. The 5-foot-10, 192-pound forward has also skated in a career total 188 AHL contests, earning 101 points (39g, 62a) to go along with 73 penalty minutes and a +20 rating.

The Springfield Falcons travel to face the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Nov. 16 before returning to the MassMutual Center to host the Sound Tigers on Nov. 21. Ticket packages are on sale now.
