Fresno Falcons News Release

BOISE, Idaho – The Fresno Falcons signed rookie defenseman Felipe Larrañaga today, who recently completed his four-year college career at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. Larrañaga arrived in Boise last night and will make his professional debut for the Falcons this evening when the club attempts to win its second straight from the Idaho Steelheads following last night's 2-1 victory at the Bank of America Centre.

The native of Fairbanks returned home to play college hockey under former Falcons head coach Guy Gadowsky after two years of playing junior hockey with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the United States Hockey League. Larrañaga recorded 77 points (15g-62a) and 42 penalty minutes in 144 career games with the Nanooks.

In two other player moves, the Falcons placed captain Jason Weaver on 30-day injured reserve Monday when he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery, and the ECHL suspended forward Neil Posillico yesterday for five games for leaving the bench during Saturday's 2-1 victory against the San Diego Gulls.

Fresno's game tonight can be heard live on KAAT 103.1 FM beginning at 5:50 p.m. Pacific time with the Shop & Go Pre-game Show. The team then travels to Las Vegas and Long Beach for games on Friday and Saturday, respectively, as they complete their final road trip of the season.
