Springfield Falcons News Release

Providence, RI - The Springfield Falcons lost by a 3-1 score against the Providence Bruins on Saturday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

The Bruins struck first with a goal from Colby Cave 13:34 into the first period. The forward snapped a shot past Louis Domingue's glove on a rush up-ice. Cave's sixth of the season was assisted by Colton Hargrove and Brett Bellemore and was the only scoring in period one. Domingue turned aside 16 other shots while Providence goaltender Zane McIntyre stopped all 10 shots.

The Falcons nearly tied the game early in the second period with a one-timer from Alex Grant that was initially signaled as a goal. After a video review, the puck did not cross the line and the score remained 1-0 in favor of Providence. Alexander Khoklachev extended the lead with his fifth of the season at 11:38. The goal was assisted by Hargrove and Tommy Cross that gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead through two periods of play. Domingue remained busy with 14 saves in the period.

Dan O'Donoghue scored his first AHL goal to bring the game to a 2-1 score at 6:08 in the third period. The forward scored an unassisted goal by sniping McIntyre glove side. The Falcons pulled Domingue in attempts to tie the game with two minutes left. Zack Phillips scored in the empty net for his second of the season to complete the scoring and give the Bruins a 3-1 win. Domingue stopped 39 shots but fell to 6-5-1. McIntyre made 28 saves to move to 4-4-3.

The Falcons finish their three-game weekend tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 p.m. against the Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The game can be heard live on NewsRadio560 WHYN.
