SETUP: The Springfield Falcons and the Lowell Lock Monsters face off for the fifth time this season and for the second time in a week at "The Nest." The Falcons are 3-0-1 against Lowell this season, with the last game on February 7th ending in a 2-1 Falcons win. The Falcons have won both meetings at the Springfield Civic Center. Boyd Kane and Corey Foster scored the two goals in the Falcons win. Mike Zigomanis had the lone goal for the Lock Monsters. Jean-Marc Pelletier made 32 saves in his first start against his former team. Patrick DesRochers made 20 saves for the Lock Monsters in his return to "The Nest."

The Falcons enter tonight's game on a five-game unbeaten streak, going 4-0-1 in those games. Springfield last played this past Saturday night against the Manitoba Moose with the game ending in a 3-3 tie. Shane Willis and Sheldon Keefe each had one goal and one assist in the game. Jeff Taffe had the third Falcons goal. Springfield had a 3-2 lead in the closing minutes of the second period when Pat Kavanagh tied the game at 3-3 with just 23 seconds remaining in the period. Jean-Marc Pelletier made 36 saves, including key saves at the end of regulation to force the overtime period. Jeff Taffe leads the Falcons in scoring against the Lock Monsters this season with one goal and three assists for four points. Corey Foster, Shane Willis, Frank Banham, Brian Holzinger, Ramzi Abid, and Darren Rumble have three points each against Lowell this season. Springfield enters tonight's game in fourth place in the East Division with a 23-26-5-0 record for 51 points. The Falcons currently sit in tenth place in the Eastern Conference three points behind Worcester and Manitoba with one game in hand on Worcester and three games in hand on Manitoba.

Lowell enters tonight's game winless in their last six games, going 0-4-0-2. The Lock Monsters lost this past Sunday to the Saint John Flames 3-2. Nikos Tselios and Damian Surma spotted Lowell a 2-0 lead in the first period only to see it slip away in the second and third periods as the Flames scored three unanswered goals. Patrick DesRochers stopped 30-33 shots in the loss. Ryan Bayda leads the Lock Monsters in scoring against the Falcons this season with four assists for four points. Jeff Daw and Brent McDonald lead Lowell in goals against the Falcons with two each. Lowell enters tonight in fifth place in the North Division with a record of 13-36-4-3 for 33 points.

PELLETIER HONORED: Goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier was named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 9th. Pelletier was 2-0-1 for the week with a 1.33 goals against average and .958 save percentage last week helping the Falcons extend their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1). Pelletier started last week posting a shutout on Wednesday, February 5th making 23 saves in a 4-0 win over the Binghamton Senators. Pelletier came back on Friday night and made 32 saves in a 2-1 win over Lowell. He ended the week making 36 saves in a 3-3 tie against Manitoba. Pelletier was voted a star in two of the three games played. Pelletier is 7-1-2 since joining the Falcons and he is 6-0-2 at "The Nest."

FALCONS' STREAKS: Forward Shane Willis has a four-game point streak since returning to the Falcons lineup. In four games Willis has four goals and four assists... Defenseman Todd Gill has a three-game point-scoring streak with one goal and three assists in those games... Forward Boyd Kane and defenseman Corey Foster each had their scoring streaks ended this past Saturday against Manitoba. They were five games and four games respectively.

LOCK MONSTERS NOTEABLES: Goaltender Arturs Irbe was added to the Lock Monsters lineup on 2/12/03... Forward Mike Zigomanis has four goals and three assists for seven points in his last 10 games played...Forward Harold Druken has three goals and three assists for six points in his last nine games.
