Eau Claire Express News Release

Eau Claire, WI - The Express enjoyed their win over Duluth so much last night, that they did it again tonight, this time beating the Huskies 6-4 at Carson Park.

The game featured a strong 5 1/3 innings of pitching from Eau Claire Starter Spencer Wright (MSU Mankato). In his outing, he gave up just 2 runs on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts to boot. He, Freddy Rodriguez (Cal Poly), and Tayler Montiel (Tulane) set it up for closer Matt Helwig (Lewis). Helwig came in in the top of the 9th and did Helwig things, retiring 3 of 4 batters that he faced, and earning his 7th save of the season.

Offensively the bats were hot tonight for the Express as they recorded an astounding 16 hits as a team. They were led by Kaden Galason (Belmont), who went 3-4 with 2 steals, and Camden Ross (Western Kentucky), who was perfect at the plate. He went 4-4 with 2 RBI, distinguishing himself as the Express' Player of the Game.

Other players having 2-hit nights were Cort MacDonald (Stanford), Reed Latimer (Montevallo), Cole Conn (UIC), and Temo Becerra (Stanford). Becerra, having just joined the team for his first appearance of the season showed why he was worth the wait. Tonight he went 2-4 with an RBI and a handful of sweet web gems in the field to record crucial outs.

With tonight's win, the Express strengthen their lead in the Great Plains East Division to 2.0 games. They will look to keep this lead rolling tomorrow as they face the visiting Rochester Honkers, with first pitch coming at 2:05 pm CT. Come on out to Carson Park to cheer on your favorite Eau Claire squad!
