Round Rock Express News Release
Two days after ripping Round Rock Express pitching for five hits, Jesus Cota again served as a thorn in the staff's side.
Cota's two out, ninth inning single brought home the winning run to give the El Paso Diablos a 7-6 win in front of 3,005 at Cohen Stadium.
The Express mounted several comebacks to erase 4-1 and 6-4 deficits. A two-run home run by Anthony Acevedo to tie the game 4-4 in the fifth was the biggest blow.
However that just set up Cota to get his 12th hit in his last three games against Round Rock. A one out single by Vic Hall off of Mike Burns put the winning run, bring in Eric Cammack to face Cota. A rip to right center was enough to score the speedy Hall, though.
Acevedo had a good night in a losing cause, going 3 for 5 with three RBIs.
Burns (1-11) got the loss, while Brandon Medders (4-0) picked up the win in relief.
The four game series will conclude Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. CT.
