WINDSOR, ON - The Windsor Express lost to the London Lightning, 99-92, at Budweiser Gardens, Feb.21.
The Lightning dropped ten three-point shots - compared to Windsor's two - in a game that was otherwise very close.
The Express out-rebounded their 401 rivals from London but did not have an answer for Marvin Phillips who led his team with game-high totals of 22 points and 18 rebounds.
One player who had his presence felt for the Express was forward Daniel Rose, who blocked five shots during the game while scoring 10 points and hauling down 9 rebounds.
Kevin Loiselle and Eddie Smith scored 22 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the team during their second game in as many nights.
Mike Helms scored 11 points while point guard Darren Duncan maintained his league-leading assists-per-game average with eight while also chipping in 11 points in 38-plus minutes.
The Lightning had already clinched the NBL Canada Central Division title the night before with a 115-103 win over Oshawa while the Express are still pushing towards a playoff berth in the franchise's inaugural season. Windsor's record is currently 15-17.
The WECSSAA championships will begin at 10:15AM prior to the next home game for the Express on Saturday, Feb. 23. Tickets to the WECSSAA Championship are only $2-$4. You will not want to miss your opportunity to witness these great athletes aspiring to become your next Windsor Express pros.
