Lightning Defeat Express
February 21, 2013 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
London Lightning News Release
With a 99-92 victory over the Windsor Express, the London Lightning certainly showed the 4092 fans at Budweiser Gardens what they've been missing for the past month. The victory clinches the NBL Canada regular season title for London. This guarantees them home-court advantage throughout the play-offs.
Lightning forward Marvin Phillips led the victory with 22 points and 18 rebounds. "It was a hard fought game for us," says Phillips. "Most fans know that we've been defeated by this team before. The last time we played them we were defeated so we knew it would be intense from the beginning. We had to put the pressure on."
Phillips is looking to continue his hot streak this Saturday against The Summerside Storm, another team that previously defeated the Lightning. "We've been working very hard lately and it's been paying off and I hope it will continue to this weekend."
Express forward Kevin Loiselle led Windsor with 22 points and teammate Daniel Rose led the rebounds with nine.
The next home game is this Saturday, February 23 against The Summerside Storm.
Playoff tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday February 22.
