
Express Holds Steady for 3-1 Win over Chihuahuas

EL PASO, Texas - The Round Rock Express (51-53) played to a 3-1 victory over the El Paso Chihuahuas (42-62) on Saturday night at Southwest University Park. Four of the seven Express hits on the night included extra bases as Round Rock hit two doubles and two home runs.
Round Rock RHP Joe Gatto (4-2, 4.58) got the win after tossing 3.0 frames of relief that saw one run and four punchouts. The loss went to El Paso starter RHP Caleb Boushley (3-7, 5.50), whose 6.2 innings on the bump saw all three Express runs cross on seven hits and one walk. RHP Chase Anderson made his E-Train debut with a 2.0-inning start in which he allowed one hit and three walks while striking out two batters.
Express CF Elier Hernandez pushed the good guys ahead 1-0 in the first inning as he sent the first pitch of the contest out of play for a solo home run.
In the third, Round Rock added a run to its lead as DH John Hicks doubled to left field with two out before he crossed home plate thanks to a single from 1B Curtis Terry.
The third Express run was tallied in the fourth frame when SS Ryan Dorow led off the inning with a blast to left-center field that put Round Rock ahead 3-0. The bottom of the fourth saw the Chihuahuas score when 3B Ivan Castillo hit a solo dinger that made it a 3-1 contest.
Both teams were held scoreless through the final five innings as they combined for just seven hits. E-Train RHP Ryder Ryan and RHP Scott Engler each recorded 2.0 scoreless innings of relief to help keep El Paso off the board as Ryan was given a hold and Engler earned the save.
Round Rock 2B Domingo Leyba made his Express debut, batting seventh in the lineup. The infielder finished the night 0-4 with two putouts while recording three assists.
Round Rock and El Paso face off in game four of the series at Southwest University Park on Sunday night. Express RHP David Kubiak (0-0, 5.40) is scheduled to start up against Chihuahuas LHP Daniel Camarena (3-4, 4.27). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.
