(OTTAWA) July 4, 2008 - Calling all Expos fans! Les Expos sont là ! The Ottawa Rapidz is pleased to bring Montreal Expos fans a taste of the glory days with "Expos Day" at Rapidz Stadium on Sunday, July 13 at 1:05 p.m.
Excitement is growing for this event as former Expos Jim Fanning, Claude Raymond and Warren Cromartie confirm their attendance for the day. Jacques Doucet, the French-language play-by-play announcer for the Expos from 1972-2004 will also be on hand for the celebration as he performs his broadcasting duties for Rapidz rival Quebec Capitales. Mr. Doucet is a member of both the Canadian and Quebec Baseball Halls of Fame.
Every fan who wears Expos memorabilia to Expos Day on July 13 will receive a free ticket to a future Ottawa Rapidz game.
Jim Fanning was the first General Manager of the Montreal Expos (1968) and an onfield manager from 1981-1982 and again in 1987. In 1981, Fanning guided the Expos to their first and only National League division title, coming within one run of moving on to the World Series. Mr. Fanning was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Warren Cromartie was a star outfielder with the Expos in the 1970's (1974-1983), before leaving to play baseball in Japan for the Yomiuri Giants.
Messrs Fanning, Doucet and Cromartie will be joined by former Expos pitcher (1969-71) and broadcaster, Claude Raymond. Mr. Raymond has been inducted into the Canadian and Quebec Baseball Halls of Fame. Other Expos alumni attending include Ron Piché, former pitcher and Expos coach and Fernand Lapierre, the former Expo organist.

The Rapidz next home stand begins on Wednesday, July 9 against the Atlantic City Surf.
