Explosive Seventh Leads RedHawks to 17-0 Rout of Kansas City

FARGO - A 10-run seventh inning propelled the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks past the Kansas City T-Bones, 17-0, for their fifth-straight win in front a season-high crowd of 4,875 Saturday at Newman Outdoor Field.

The RedHawks' bats were on fire with five home runs and 14 hits. Ronnie Bourquin had a big night at the plate - going 2-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored and three RBIs.

"We put a together a nice string of games as of late and we are just going to try to keep it going," Bourquin said of the team's offensive outburst.

Keith Brachold tallied another multi-hit game, going 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in the seventh. Buddy Sosnoskie went yard for the third time this season and went 2-for-4 with three runs.

"It's a good offensive exposition - haven't seen that from my club in a long time," manager Doug Simunic said. "It's been a collective effort."

Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (25-17) southpaw Jake Laber (4-3) extended his home win streak to four after going a solid six-plus innings. He scattered five hits and struck out six batters, while not giving up a run.

Kansas City T-Bones (15-27) starter Aaron Meade (3-4) pitched six-plus innings with seven hits. He was tagged with seven runs (three earned) before giving way to the T-Bones bullpen.

The Fargo-Moorhead bullpen combination of Danny Gutierrez, Mackenzie King and Ethan Opsahl shut down Kansas City in the final three innings and earned the shutout victory.

Kansas City's leadoff hitter Kennard Jones was the only T-Bones batter with multiple hits in Saturday's game, going 2-for-4.
