After trailing 6-1 in the second, the Explorers came back and scored four runs in the second inning to cut the lead to 6-5 as Brandon Newton had a bases loaded double. In the fifth inning, Ray Serrano started the inning with a surprise bunt single, stole second and went to third on a throwing error by the Rockland catcher Billy Avino. Serrano then scored on a sacrifice fly RBI by Youske Ingouchi that gave the Explorers the lead. The X's added three insurance runs in the seventh inning on RBI singles by Mike Murphy, Wally Backman, Jr. and Barrows.
