Explorers shut out Lincoln 1-0

Lincoln, NE-----Ryan Priddy hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Richard Salazar pitched eight strong innings as the Explorers shutout Lincoln 1-0 here Friday. It was Priddy's sixth home run of the season and it came off losing Lincoln hurler Wade Mackey, who suffered his first loss of the season. Richard Salazar went eight inning, scattered four hits and recorded a season high eight strikeouts in winning his fifth game of the year. Lincoln only had one major threat off Salazar and that was in the seventh inning. Mike Provencher led off the inning with a single and Asif Shah was hit by a pitch and that put runners at first and second with nobody out. The next batter Migue Chacoa popped up to second baseman Mike Murphy who flipped it to Priddy to double off Provencher. Youske Inoguchi led the Explorers with two hits as the X's had only seven hits in the contest. Chris Bodishbaugh pitched the ninth for the Explorers and retired all three batters, including two strikeouts to record his 14th save of the season. Lincoln suffered their sixth straight loss, their longest losing streak of the year. The second game of the three-game series will be played Saturday at 7:05 at Haymarket Park.
