
Lemurs Win Tight Game over Wingnuts

LAREDO, TX- The Wichita Wingnuts (37-29) lost 4-2 to the Laredo Lemurs (31-33) at Uni-Trade Stadium on Friday night.
Laredo broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning to take their final lead of the game. With one out, Philip Incaviglia reached first on an infield single and went to third on Jimmy Mojica's double to right field. With the infield drawn in, Uriak Marquez singled through the middle to drive in both runners.
Edwin Walker and Mike Benacka worked the eighth and ninth innings respectively to close out the game. Benacka earned the save.
Ryan Khoury led off the game with a single to left field and advanced to second after beating out a pickoff play. Mike Conroy bunted for a single along the third base line advancing Khoury to third base. John Rodriguez drove in Khoury with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Lemurs went in front 2-1 in the bottom of the second. With a runner on second and two outs, Incaviglia lined a single to center to tie the game. After Incaviglia stole second, Mojica doubled down the left field line to drive in the go-ahead run.
Conroy doubled to center with two outs in the fifth and scored the tying run on a groundball single to center by Rodriguez.
Dumas Garcia pitched well for the Wingnuts in a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in six innings. Garcia struck out five and did not issue a walk.
Lemurs' starter Ryan Sasaki also took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on eight hits in five innings. Sasaki walked two and struck out five.
Jared Simon took the loss for Wichita. Bradley Blanks earned the win for Laredo.
Rookie left-hander Dillon Wilson threw a perfect bottom of the eighth inning for Wichita in his professional debut. Wilson was signed after Thursday night's game. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound left-hander was 6-3 with a 3.36 ERA for Texas Wesleyan University this spring. Wilson struck out 80 batters in 67.0 innings pitched during his senior season.
Wichita also traded first baseman Gerardo Avila to the Frontier League's Southern Illinois Miners in exchange for a player to be named later.
