
Explorers earn 13-8 win over Wichita

Wichita, KS - The Explorers matched a season high 17 hits in a 13-8 win over Wichita here Thursday. With the 17 hits, everyone in the Explorers had at least one hits, with Yusuke Inoguchi, Kris Sanchez and Wally Backman all getting three hits. Inoguchi finished the four-game series with 12 hits in 18 at bats. The Explorers got off to a quick start, scoring three runs in the first inning and four more tallies in the second to take a 7-0 lead. Wichita came back in the fifth inning to make the game interesting as the Wingnuts scored four runs to cut the Explorers lead to 7-4. However, the Explorers put the contest away in the sixth inning sending ten batters to the plate and scored five runs to take a 12-4 lead. Sioux City scored their final run in the seventh. Wichita scored four runs in the ninth inning off relief pitcher Eddie Delacruz to make the final margin 13-8. Nick Schumacher pitched seven innings for the X's as the righthander recorded his fourth win of the season, posting half of the eight wins the Explorers have this season. With the victory, the X's finished the four-game series with first place Wichita 2-2. The Explorers will now open up a three-game series tonight at Lincoln. Game time will be 7:05.
