Having fallen behind, 3-2, in the top of the fifth inning, the Jackals put up five runs on seven hits in the bottom of the frame, taking a four-run lead and eventually winning, 10-6. The final three runs of the fifth came on a Francisco Carabello home run. Bryan Sabatella and Carabello hit back-to-back jacks in the following inning to go ahead by seven runs. No other St. Paul batter picking up more than one hit.

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Kansas City 1

The ReadHawks managed only four hits against Kansas City pitching Thursday, but with two men an via walks in the sixth inning, one of those four hits made a big difference. That's when DH Ryan Delgado hit his fourth homer of the year, turning a slim, 1-0 advantage into a 4-0 lead. Fargo-Moorhead went on to win, 4-1. Starting RedHawks batter Paul Burnside earned his second win of the year, striking out seven batters in six innings while allowing only one run on two hits. Burnside has 26 strikeouts on the year with only 10 walks.

Sioux City 13, Wichita 8

The Explorers put up 17 hits in their 13-8 win over Wichita on Thursday. And while only three were of the extra-base variety, stringing together singles for most of the night proved to be a winning strategy. Five Sioux City batters had at least two hits with 1B Kris Sanchez having one of the stronger nights at the plate, going 3-for-6 with a double, a run and four RBI. Sanchez has 14 RBI on the season. For Wichita, DH John Rodriguez tied Sanchez and Sioux City LF Yusuke Inoguchi for the game high in hits, going 3-for-5 with a run and four RBI. Trailing, 13-4, in the ninth, the Wingnuts put together four hits, including a CJ Ziegler home run to score four runs. But it wasn't enough for what would have accounted for the most impressive comeback this season in the American Association.

Winnipeg 12, Lincoln 5

Goldeyes RF Josh Mazzola was a triple shy of batting for the cycle in Winnipeg's 12-5 win over Lincoln on Thursday. Instead he hit two home runs. Mazzola, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and five RBI, knocked in a third of his club's nine runs from the sixth and seventh innings. He did so with the help of a two-run homer in the sixth and an RBI double in the seventh. Lincoln took the first lead of the game on a Mike Provencher RBI groundout in the third. But Mazzola's first home run of the night, a two-run shot in the fourth, put the Goldeyes on top for good.

Gary SouthShore 7, Newark 4

Each time the Bears threatened a comeback against Gary SouthShore on Thursday, the RailCats had an answer, defeating Newark, 7-4. Twice the Bears pulled within one run only to see Gary SouthShore put two more on the board. RailCats RF Mike Coles tied for the team high in hits, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI in his first game with Gary SouthShore. At the plate for Newark, 3B Juan Martinez led all players with four base knocks - three singles and a double - with two runs and three RBI to his credit. RailCats starting pitcher Derek Drage earned his first win of 2012, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Amarillo 5, Laredo 4

With the score tied, 4-4, in the top of the ninth and the go-ahead run for Amarillo on third base with one out, the Sox opted for the intentional walk to make an inning-ending double play a possibility. Sox DH Tim Alberts didn't go along with the Lemurs' plan. Alberts singled in CF Harrison Kain from third to put his club on top for the first time since the seventh inning, giving the Sox a 5-4 win. It was Alberts' third hit of the night in five at-bats. Laredo got two hits form leadoff SS Jimmy Mojica, but no one else in the Lemurs lineup had more than one base knock. Mojica also scored a run.

El Paso 9, Grand Prairie 4

The Diablos put at least one run on the board in four of the first five innings and closed out their scoring with a four-run seventh, culminating in a 9-4 win over Grand Prairie. El Paso 3B Bryan Frichter went 4-for-6 with two runs and three RBI, including a two-run triple in the seventh. The triple was Frichter's first of the year. Two more Diablos joined Frichter in the four-hit club, LF Brian Joynt and CF Kory Drew. The trio out-hit the entire Grand Prairie lineup, which had a pretty good night, picking up 10 hits and scoring four runs. Leading the way for the AirHogs, DH Andres Rodriguez scored and batted in a run, going 2-for-4 and picking up his fourth double of the year. El Paso starting pitcher Scott Hodsdon struck out seven batters in seven frames while surrendering two runs on seven hits and a walk to earn his first win of the year.
