Ex-Rockets Conroy and Harris Lead Vipers Past 66ers on National Stage

HIDALGO, TEXAS - Will Conroy recorded his fourth triple-double of the season and the eighth of his career while Mike Harris scored a game-high 44 points as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers beat the Tulsa 66ers 126-103 tonight in front of a crowd of 5,525 in the second of three nationally televised home games this season at State Farm Arena.

Conroy finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists while Harris recorded his 16th double-double by adding 12 rebounds (six offensive). Harris hit his first eight shots and 11 of his first 12 while hitting 16-of-18 overall.

Stanley Asumnu had a strong game as well, scoring a season-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds.

Down 32-24 after the first quarter, the 66ers (23-17) went on a 9-3 run to start the second quarter. The Vipers (29-12) responded with a 13-5 run to take a 48-38 lead mid-way through the quarter. Larry Owens ended the run with a three-pointer, but the Vipers continued the offensive onslaught, outscoring the 66ers 37-29 to take a 69-53 lead.

The Vipers opened the third quarter on an 8-2 run to build a 77-55 lead 3:23 in and never looked back.

The Vipers shot 61.5% (48-for-78) from the field while holding the 66ers to 46.3% (37-for-80). The Vipers also out-rebounded the 66ers 43-to-32.

The 66ers were led by Mustafa Shakur, who recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 25 points and 13 assists and Moses Ehambe, who scored a team-high 26 points while hitting 10-of-16 shots, including 4-of-8 from behind the arc.

The Vipers' four-game home stand concludes on tomorrow when they host the Tulsa 66ers at 5:00 p.m. It's Go Green Night. The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive recycling bags, courtesy of the McAllen Recycling Department. Doors open at 4:00.
