BayHawks soar above Stampede

BOISE, Idaho - The Erie BayHawks fought hard in Boise and ultimately took the lead and the win over the Stampede 116-102.

The first quarter proved to be a strong battle between the teams but at the end of the first Erie had taken the lead over Idaho 21-31.

At the end of the first half the BayHawks were leading 58-53. The leading scorers for Erie were John Bryant and Blake Ahearn with 13 points, and Mike Gansey with 12 points. Andre Barrett for the Stampede was charging back at Erie with 14 points, getting help with 10 points from Lance Hurdle off the bench.

The BayHawks were still in the lead at the end of the third quarter 83-75; with Erie's Bryant already earning a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Erie finished with four players in double-figures, leading was Ahearn with 28 points, Mike Gansey with 26 points and 10 rebounds, Bryant with 24 points and 16 rebounds, and Michael Sweetney with 19 points. The Stampede contributed five players in double-figures including leading scorer for the Stampede Coby Karl with 26 points, Barrett with 23, and Hurdle with 14 points. Mildon Ambres and Lance Allred earned their eight double-double of the season with16 points and 13 rebounds, and 10 points and 10 rebounds, respectively.

The BayHawks travel to take on the Utah Flash Monday at 9 p.m. Idaho also leaves for a two game road trip to Sioux Falls to take on the Skyforce Tuesday and Wednesday.
