Boise, ID-- The Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Idaho Stampede 121-115 in overtime, Friday night at the Qwest Arena.
The Stampede started the first-half full of energy from a vibrant crowd. Los Angeles picked up momentum to end the first quarter but Idaho held the lead at the close of the period, 32-27. Ryan Forehan-Kelly led the D-fenders with 11 points.
Joe Crawford came off the bench for the D-Fenders to contribute 11 points in the second quarter. Idaho fought back but Los Angeles was able to take the half time lead, 52-48.
"It was tough playing without our leading scoring, Donell Taylor," said Stampede Head Coach, Bob Mackinnon. "I thought we hung in there and fought hard but we just couldn't counteract the foul shots late in the game."
Idaho finished the game with five players scoring in double-figures including Mildon Ambres and Andre Barrett who lead the home team with 27 points apiece. Coby Karl contributed with 24, while Lance Allred had 14, and Joe Dabbert with 10. Allred and Ambres both earned their seventh double-double of the season.
Los Angeles' bench carried the team in tonight's game, as D-Fenders newcomer, James Peters led his team with 28 points. Crawford also came off the bench and brought in 23 points. James Wright contributed 19 points, Forehan-Kelly had 17 and Michael Frey finished with 12.
"It was a good win over a tough team," said D-Fenders Head Coach, Chucky Brown. "We're not used to coming out on top, and tonight we came out playing better defense then we have and got a win."
