Bighorns grind out victory

March 13, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Reno Bighorns News Release

RENO, Nev.- With a chance to make-up ground in the race for the final NBA D-League playoff spot, the Reno Bighorns responded with a 101-87 victory over the Utah Flash Friday night in the Reno Events Center.

Six Bighorns finished in double figures Friday, as Reno (20-20) used a workman-like effort to collect the win in the first of back-to-back games against the Flash (21-19). With playoff implications on the line, the Bighorns battled back from a three-point first-quarter deficit to cruise to the 14-point victory.

Mo Charlo led Reno with 19 points on the strength of 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Charlo kicked-in five boards and five assists for the Bighorns. Rod Benson and Desmon Farmer chipped-in 15 points apiece, while Richie Frahm hit three three-pointers en route to 13 points off the bench.

After the lead swung back-and-forth in the first quarter, Reno outscored Utah by seven points in the second quarter and never turned back. Utah won the rebounding battle, but the Bighorns turned 27 Utah turnovers into 28 points.

Kosta Koufos, on assignment from the Utah Jazz, recorded a double-double with a game-high 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Orien Greene finished with 18 points, and Kevin Kruger knocked down four of his seven three-point tries en route to 14 points.

With just one game separating the two teams in the standings and a playoff berth looming in the season's final month, Reno and Utah will hook-up again on Saturday night. Tip-time is set for 7 p.m. in the Reno Events Center. Tickets are on-sale now at www.RenoBighorns.com, the Reno Events Center Box Office, Silver Legacy Box Office, or by visiting any Northern Nevada Ticketmaster location or Web site.
