Everett Silvertips News Release
Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips took home their fourth straight win Friday night against the Portland Winter hawks, 4-2. Tyler Maxwell helped the Silvertips offense with three points on the night (2G, 1A) pushing his season totals to 10 goals and 10 assists. Kellan Tochkin continues to find the score sheet with two assists on the night, giving Tochkin five points in the last two games. Mike Alexander, Graham Pouter and Jordan Mistelbacher all found the back of the net tonight rounding out Everett's five goals on the night. Shayne Barrie took home the win tonight with 19 saves improving his record to 6-5-2-0. Everett's win tonight is their 12th straight win against the Winter Hawks.
This brings the âTips record to 13-8-3-0 with 29 points in 24 games played standing three points behind second place Tri-City Americans in the U.S. Division. The Silvertips are now 6-2-2-0 in their last 10 games. The Silvertips come back to the Comcast Arena on Saturday night November 22nd for a 7:05 game against the Tri City Americans.
The Winter Hawks got the first goal of the night as Killian Hutt scored his sixth goal of the season at 2:51 of the first period. Hutt took a quick shot from the side of the crease which deflected off Barrie's stick and took a Portland bounce over the Everett goaltenders shoulder giving the Winter Hawks the quick lead. Everett fought hard to tie the game up at 11:53. Maxwell put home his ninth goal of the year on the back door as Tochkin made a ridiculous behind the back pass through a Portland defenseman across the crease to feed Maxwell and even up the score at one a piece. Everett would end the period leading in shots 11-8.
Everett opened up the second period with 1:14 left on a two man advantage generating several scoring chances, but the âTips could not find the back of the net on the power play. As the penalties came to a close Maxwell scored the Silvertips second goal of the night after a great pass from Tochkin walking through the crease beating Kurtis Mucha on his backhand at 1:20 of the second period. Everett added some insurance soon after on the power play when Alexander scored his second goal of the year at 4:48, giving Everett a two goal lead. The Silvertips were not done yet, as Pouter fired a hard slap shot from the point beating Mucha five-hole and increasing Everett's lead to three at 11:30. Everett outshot the Winter Hawks 17-7 in the second period and took a 4-1 lead going into the third.
Mistelbacher added to the Silvertips lead after firing a hard wrist shot, top slot, past Mucha on his blocker side. Everett now had a commanding four goal lead with 18:19 left to play in regulation. Portland scored their second goal of the night shorthanded when Joel Ridgeway got his first goal of the season on a two on one rush at 7:55. It wouldn't be enough though as Everett continued to play strong to walk away with a 5-2 victory.
