
Everett Pushes Win Streak To Eight, Defeats Chilliwack

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips scored five unanswered goals in route to a 5-1 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins Saturday night, 5-1. The Silvertips have won eight games in a row and remain undefeated in 2010. Byron Froese earned first star of the night with a three point night (2G, 1A). Froese extends his point streak to seven games which includes goals in six straight games. Froese now holds a franchise record for longest goal streak with six games. Chris Langkow scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season Saturday night. Kellan Tochkin had a goal and one assist while Tyler Maxwell, Shane Harper and Zack Dailey collected two assists each. Kent Simpson stopped 19 of 20 shots for his 12th win of the season.
Chilliwack scored the first goal Saturday night at 14:03 of the first period. Ryan Howse scored his 35th goal of the season on the power play after deflecting a wrist shot off an Everett defenseman and past Simpson for a 1-0 Bruins lead. Langkow tied the game for Everett at 16:04 beating Bruins goalie Lucas Gore five-hole on top of the crease. The goal was Langkow's 14th of the year on assists from Shane Harper and Zack Dailey.
Everett took their first lead of the game at 13:24 of the second period when Froese scored for his sixth straight game. Maxwell and Froese went on a 2 on 1 into the Bruins zone. Froese, controlling the puck the whole way, scored on a hard wrist shot that hit the crossbar went in the net for a 2-1 Everett lead.
Langkow added to Everett's lead just 23 seconds into the first period to give the Silvertips a 3-1 lead. Harper took a shot that hit Langkow behind the net as he was skating toward the crease. The puck fell out of Langkow's jersey in front of the net and the Everett forward scored second goal of the night. Froese scored his 17th goal of the year at 7:22. Kellan Tochkin made a great cross ice pass setting up Froese for a one-timer and a 4-1 Silvertips lead. Braden Gamble replaced Gore in net for Chilliwack after Everett's fourth goal. Tochkin continued the momentum for Everett scoring his 16th goal of the season at 11:59 on the power play. Tochkin beat Gamble blocker side on a wrist shot from the faceoff dot to give the Silvertips a 5-1 lead.
This brings the âTips record to 27-16-2-1 with 57 points in 46 games played. The Silvertips come back to Comcast Arena tomorrow night to face-off against the rival Seattle Thunderbirds at 5:05 pm. Everett then takes on the Vancouver Giants this Wednesday at 7:05 at Comcast Arena.
