
Calgary Hitmen Fall 3-1 To Kootenay Ice

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen opened a six game home stand Sunday night by dropping a 3-1 decision to the Kootenay Ice.
Ice goalie Todd Mathews made 29 saves in a first star performance as Kootenay set a franchise record with their 12th straight win
The Ice jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead getting goals from Max Reinhart and Jesse Ismond.
It stayed that way until Brock Montgomery scored early in the third to extend the lead to 3-0.
Brandon Kozun, shorthanded, scored the lone Hitmen goal to break the Mathews shutout bid midway through the third.
Calgary is now 29-15-1-1. They remain two points back of Medicine Hat for top spot in the Central Division, but with four games in hand on the Tigers.
The Hitmen will host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Tuesday night at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
