Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings made it 2 for 2 on home ice this weekend with Saturday's 5-1 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings at Westman Place.
Brayden Schenn scored once and set up two others for the Wheat Kings, who opened up the weekend with a 7-6 Overtime Shootout win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Matt Calvert, Colby Robak, Toni Rajala and Mark Stone also scored for the winners, who led 2-0 and 4-1 at the period breaks.
Former Wheat King Klarc Wilson replied for the Oil Kings, who were outshot 40-21. For Wilson, who was traded to Edmonton last month in exchange for veteran center Brent Raedeke, it was his second goal of the season.
Jacob DeSerres made 20 saves to pick up his second victory in as many days.
After playing four games in five nights, the Wheat Kings won't play again until Wednesday night when they kick off a home and home series with the Raiders in Prince Albert. Tickets to Friday's return match - at Westman Place - will go back on sale Monday morning at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
