EVERETT, Wash. - Everett native Wyatte Wylie scored his first career WHL goal and was named first star of the game, manufacturing five unanswered goals while the power play exploded for a 3-of-7 effort en route to a 5-2 Everett Silvertips victory over the Vancouver Giants before 4,714 fans at XFINITY Arena on Saturday.

The Silvertips won for the ninth time in 13 games (9-3-0-1), staying within a point of the Spokane Chiefs for third place and reaching within two points of Tri-City for second in the U.S. Division. Five other Silvertips, in addition to Wylie, enjoyed multi point games while goaltender Carter Hart turned in a 22 save effort for the win.

Tyler Benson's eighth goal of the season from close range on Hart put the Giants up 1-0 at 5:09 of the first period but the Silvertips were awakened on the Wylie goal with 4:59 to play for a 1-1 tie. After the Silvertips won a puck battle along the left boards, Riley Sutter feathered a gorgeous pass to Wylie. The Tips d-man cut into the slot and fooled David Tendeck with a backhand deke.

Then with 1:37 left in the period, the Tips slammed in their fourth power play goal in the last three games on a Gianni Fairbrother snap shot from center point, beating Tendeck bar down for a 2-1 Tips advantage.

Patrick Bajkov's Tips leading 14th goal of the season boosted the lead to 3-1 at 5:42 of the second period when he converted a backdoor play from Matt Fonteyne to the right post.

Riley Sutter, who broke a six-game goal scoring drought, pumped in a power play goal for a 4-1 lead just 1:58 into the third period when he took a feed from Jake Christiansen off the boards, cruised to the right circle and cranked a snap shot past Tendeck.

The Tips padded the lead to 5-1 at 5:29 of the third period on a two-man advantage when Bryce Kindopp slammed a sharp angled one-timer from the left circle for his fourth point in the last three games.

With the Tips comfortably ahead, 40 penalty minutes were distributed as Tyler Benson, Dawson Butt, and Montana Onyebuchi were issued separate 10-minute misconducts. When the melee settled, Vancouver's Dylan Plouffe bagged his fourth goal of the season with the game already academic, with 8:11 left in regulation on a snapper from the right circle.

Tendeck took the loss on 31 shots.
