
Everblades make roster changes

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that three players have been placed on the injured reserve list. Defensemen Ryan Brindley and Bret Nasby along with goaltender Kevin Nastiuk will all begin the 2006-07 season on the IR. As per team policy the injuries were not disclosed.
Nastiuk, a 4th round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003, will start the year on the ECHL's new 3-day IR. The 21-year-old split his rookie season last year between Lowell and the Everblades. Nastiuk began the season with the Lock Monsters and posted a record of 1-7-3 with a 3.45 GAA and an .887 save percentage in 11 games before joining the Everblades. The native of Edmonton, Alta. closed out the regular season with a record of 13-4-2, a 2.52 GAA and a save percentage of .924 in 20 games. Nastiuk saw action in three Kelly Cup Playoff games last year, going 1-0. Prior to turning pro, Nastiuk spent four years in the WHL with Medicine Hat, leading the Tigers to the WHL title and a trip to the Memorial Cup in 2003-04.
Brindley, who is entering his fourth season with the Everblades will open the 2006-07 campaign on the 7-day IR. The 30-year-old collected 27 points (6g, 21a) in 50 regular season games with the Everblades in 2005-06. Of his 27 points, 13 of them came on the power play, scoring four goals and adding nine assists with the Everblades on the man-advantage. As the team captain Brindley helped lead the Everblades to their eighth straight playoff appearance in 2006, during which he chipped in eight point (1g, 7a) in eight playoff games. Overall for the Thunder Bay, Ontario native 2006-07 will be his ninth professional season and has compiled 283 points in 455 games.
Nasby, a 5th round draft pick by the Florida Panthers in 2004, will start the season on the 30-day IR. The 20-year-old is scheduled to make his professional debut this season after skating in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals and the Erie Otters the past three seasons. Last year Nasby split the season between the Generals and Otters, beginning the year with 14 points (5g, 9a) in 20 games with Oshawa before completing the season with 17 points (4g, 13a) in 32 games with the Otters. The 6-foot-3, 190 pound native of Grimsby, Ont. totaled 55 points in 174 career OHL games.
