
Evansville Edges Boomers in Series Finale

EVANSVILLE, IN - The Schaumburg Boomers could not complete a road sweep of the Evansville Otters on Sunday, dropping a 4-3 one-run decision on Sunday night.
Kyle Arjona started for the Boomers and stretched his scoreless streak to 19.2 innings before Evansville grabbed the lead. Schaumburg jumped ahead 2-0 with a pair of runs in the fifth. Clint Hardy and Gian Martellini singled and a double steal placed runners at second and third. Matt McGarry singled home the first run and Chase Dawson knocked home a run with a fielder's choice. Evansville ambushed Arjona with four straight hits in the sixth to take the lead and added an insurance run in the seventh. Nick Ames and Hardy singled to open the ninth, but the Boomers managed to score just one run on a sacrifice fly from McGarry.
Arjona suffered the loss, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings of work. All eight hits for the Boomers were singles with McGarry and Hardy tallying two apiece.
The Boomers (9-8) will take Monday off before heading to Windy City on Tuesday night to continue the roadtrip against the ThunderBolts. LHP Andrew Dean (1-2, 4.85) is slated to start for the Boomers against LHP Kenny Mathews (1-2, 6.58). The Boomers will return home on Friday to begin a homestand full of events.
