The Arizona Diamondbacks have promoted Cody Evans (P) to the Lancaster Jethawks (California League) and Richard Mercado (C) will rejoin the Silver Hawks roster.
Evans heads to Lancaster with 28 strikeouts his last five starts amd has a record of 5-7 and 3.02 ERA.
Mercado comes back to the Silver Hawks after hitting .137 with Lancaster in 51 games. Mercado hit .272 in 24 games with South Bend from April 6 to May 17.
Evans will make his first start for Lancaster this Sunday at home versus the Inland Empire 66ers, with Mercado joining the Silver Hawks on their four game road trip to play the Clinton Lumberkings.
