Dayton, OH - The Cincinnati Reds have assigned RHP Elizardo Ramirez to the Dayton Dragons so the major leaguer can continue to throw on his regular schedule during the Major League All-Star Break. The 23-year-old right-hander is expected to pitch on Monday evening when the Dayton Dragons host the Swing of the Quad Cities at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.

Ramirez, who is known to his Cincinnati teammates as "E-Z", began the 2006 season with Louisville before being promoted to Cincinnati in late April. In 14 games with the big league club, Ramirez has posted a 3-6 record and a 4.14 ERA. Ramirez was originally signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 1999. Ramirez has a career 3-9 record and 5.06 ERA in 27 major league games.

Ramirez will be taking the roster spot of RHP Daniel Guerrero who has been placed on the disabled list with a pulled hamstring in his right leg. The 6'1", 190 pound pitcher out of Tecuala, Mexico is 1-1 with a 6.43 ERA in two games for Dayton this season.
