CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Saturday that RiverDogs OF Evan Tierce has been promoted to High A Tampa. Promoted from Short Season A Staten Island to the RiverDogs is OF Rod Allen.

Tierce hit the ball well for the RiverDogs in a short stint with the team, batting .378 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 13 games. In a three-game series against Greensboro from July 4 through 6, Tierce went 8-12 with two home runs, seven RBI and six runs scored. The 17th-round pick in 2004 won a batting crown for the Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2004 after hitting .361 in 40 games.

Allen joins the RiverDogs after hitting .235 with a RBI in six games with Staten Island. The 12th-round pick in 2004 hit .234 in 35 games for Staten Island last season. A native of Phoenix, AZ, Allen is the son of former Major Leaguer Rod Allen, Sr., who was a member of the 1984 World Champion Detroit Tigers.

The RiverDogs are in the midst of an eight-game road trip and will return home July 13 to open an eight-game homestand and a four-contest set with the Hickory Crawdads.
