ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves look for their fifth consecutive win as they take on the Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies) in the middle game of a three-game series at Jerry Uht Park. With last night's thrilling one-run win over over the R-Phils, the ‘Wolves tied a season-best four-game winning streak which they have done on three occasions. Erie is 8-2 in the last 10 games and owns the second-best home record in the Eastern League at 13-5. Only Akron has more home wins with 14. A win in either of the next two games will give the Howlers their fifth series win of the season. Erie is 4-4-1 in series this season. With last night's win, the ‘Wolves are 3.5 games behind first place Akron in the Southern Division...Righty Alfredo Figaro takes the mound tonight for the ‘Wolves, making his fifth start of the season and his first against Reading. Figaro took a no-decision in his last outing at Harrisburg going 5.2 innings, allowing a season-high five runs on nine hits with no walks and four strikeouts. It was the first time he has not issued a walk in a game and the third time in four starts where he walked no more than one batter...Lefty Antonio Bastardo takes the mound for the R-Phils, making his eighth appearance and fourth start of the season. His first four appearances came out of the bullpen while his last three have been as a starter. He picked up a win over Connecticut in his last outing on May 6 going 5.1 innings, allowing a run on four hits with a walk and a season-high seven strikeouts. Bastardo has allowed more than one run in just one of his first seven appearances (3 ER vs. HAR on May 1)...Erie's 19 wins are second most in the EL (Akron leads the league with 22 wins).

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Erie leads the season series over Reading 1-0. The SeaWolves and R-Phils meet nine times in 2009.

- Erie's pitching staff ranks fifth in the league with a 3.65 team ERA. Reading's pitching staff ranks fourth with a 3.33 team ERA.

- Erie's offense ranks second in the EL with a .269 team batting average. Reading is seventh, batting .260 as a team.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 33 home runs and are second in the league with 156 runs scored.

- Ryan Strieby leads the league with nine home runs, 28 RBI and 27 runs scored. He is second in the league with a .620 slugging percentage and is tied for second with 15 extra-base hits.

- Brennan Boesch is tied for second in the league with 15 extra-base hits.

- Max Leon is fourth in the league with a .598 slugging percentage.

- Scott Sizemore and Max Leon are a combined 0-for-14 with four walks in the last two games.

- Defensively the SeaWolves are tied for the league lead with a .985 team fielding percentage. Erie has committed 16 errors this season which is tied for fewest in the league. The ‘Wolves have turned 38 double plays which is tied for second in the EL.

- Yesterday's win was Erie's first on a Monday since September 3, 2007, the day the ‘Wolves won the Southern Division crown. Since that day, they went 0-for-16 on Monday's until last night .
