New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- David Cooper's leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 2-1 victory over the Binghamton Mets on Tuesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. Making a rehabilitation start for New Hampshire, Toronto Blue Jays' right-hander Casey Janssen held the B-Mets to one run on four hits over six innings with five strikeouts and one walk allowed.
Cooper (2-for-3, HR, 2 R) slammed a 2-0 pitch from losing pitcher Eric Brown off the videoboard in right-centerfield for his second home run of the season, making a winner of Brandon Magee. Magee (2-0) pitched 1.2 shutout innings of relief to record the victory. Edgar Estanga retired all four batters he faced to notch his first save.
Binghamton (14-16) spoiled Janssen's bid for a win in the top of the sixth when Emmanuel Garcia (1-for-4, 2B, R) doubled and scored on a two-out bloop single to center from Jonathan Malo (1-for-3, BB, RBI), knotting the score, 1-1.
The Fisher Cats (18-14) went in front, 1-0, in the top of the second against Fernando Nieve when Cooper singled, advanced to third on a double by Nick Gorneault (1-for-3, 2B) and scored on Al Quintana's fielder's choice grounder.
Nieve retired the final 15 batters he faced, allowing one run on two hits over six innings. The former Houston Astro fanned six and walked one.

Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Ricky Romero (0-0, 0.00), making a rehabilitation appearance, takes the ball for his franchise record 52nd career Fisher Cats' start. He'll be opposed by fellow southpaw Mike Antonini (4-1, 4.88). Radio coverage begins with the BayRing Pre-Game Show at 6:15pm with Bob Lipman and Mike Murphy on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
