Tonight, the SeaWolves and Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) will play a pair of games at Waterfront Park. The two clubs will finish last night's game which was suspended in the fourth inning due to heavy rains and play a second, seven-inning game. The first game will resume in the bottom of the fourth with Trenton leading Erie 6-5...The âWolves are a game out of the Southern Division Wild Card, led by Reading which lost last night to Portland. Erie is a game up on fourth place Bowie. Just two games separate the three teams fighting for the wild card playoff spot...The âWolves are 2-4 on the current road trip. Erie is tied for the fewest road wins in the EL (22-35) and since July 8, the SeaWolves are 4-12 away from Jerry Uht Park...
The three-game series with Trenton wraps up Erie's schedule against the EL North. The âWolves are 22-15 and 8-3-1 in series against the North. The âWolves have dropped their last three series (all against Northern Division clubs)...The SeaWolves took three of four from Trenton in the two clubs only other series at Jerry Uht Park June 30-July 3. Erie and Trenton have alternated season series wins in each of the last three seasons. Erie needs one win in the three game series to win the season series over the Thunder...The âWolves are 1-1 in doubleheader games that include a suspended game and a seven-inning game...Lefty Jon Kibler takes the mound for the âWolves in the second game. Kibler is coming off of a six-inning, shutout performance against New Britain in his last start. Kibler took the no-decision in that game and the SeaWolves lost in 12 innings, 1-0. Erie is 0-4 in Kibler's last four starts.
