Senators Come Back Late, Grab 6-5 Win Over Curve

HARRISBURG, Pa - The Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning off of reliever Jared Hughes to grab a 6-5 lead over the Altoona Curve on Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park on City Island.

Trailing 5-4 heading into the seventh, the Senators (58-63) rallied for five straight hits against Hughes and scored two runs to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Altoona (51-72) jumped out to a 2-0 edge before Harrisburg scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Curve would come back with vengeance and plate three unanswered runs. Tim Alderson would belt his second home run of his career helping his own cause - it was the first in a Curve uniform for Alderson. Pedro Alvarez also smashed his 10th home run of the season.

Alderson tossed 6.0 strong innings of six-hit baseball, allowing four runs over that span. He struck out six batters. The most he has K'ed since coming over from the Giants organization and the second most he has struck out in Double-A.

The final game of the series will feature a pitching matchup of LHP Daniel Moskos (9-9, 3.99) for Altoona while the Harrisburg Senators will send RHP Jeff Mandel (3-0, 1.93). First pitch will be 12:00 p.m. and pre-game coverage will begin at 11:45 a.m. on flagship station ESPN Radio, 1430 and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliates.

NOTES:

** With the loss the Curve cannot finish above .500 this season. It is the first time in franchise history that Altoona has had back-to-back losing seasons in franchise history.

** The start of the game was delayed by 2:04 minutes because of rain.
