Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, IA, March 5, 2010 - The Iowa Energy announced today they have signed 6'10" center Darian Townes. Townes is expected to make his Energy debut tonight against the Erie BayHawks at 6 PM Central.
Townes averaged 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a senior at the University of Arkansas (2007-2008) before joining the Erie BayHawks during the 2008-2009 NBA D-League season. Townes played in 31 games for Erie, averaging 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game to go with 1.2 blocks per contest.
The acquisition of Townes brings the Energy roster to nine after losing center Courtney Sims (buyout to Puerto Rico) and swing man Othyus Jeffers (called-up by Utah Jazz) in the past week.
The Energy return home on Wednesday, March 17th vs. Dakota. For tickets to all Energy home games, call 564-8550 or visit www.iowanba.com.
