Energy Shoot Down BayHawks

January 24, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release

Erie, PA - The only thing that didn't go right for the Iowa Energy in the 1st quarter of their game with Erie was the jump ball. After losing the opening tip, Iowa jumped out to a 28-11 1st quarter lead and coasted to a 90-80 victory on the road. The Energy improve to 13-6 with the win, and remain on top of the D-League's Central Division.

Playing their second game without NBA call-ups Courtney Sims and Anthony Tolliver, Iowa led by as many as 26 points early in the 3rd quarter. The Energy were led by rookie Patrick Sanders, who poured in 28 points. Sanders scored 43 points in the Energy's victory over Dakota earlier in the week, and his hot shooting continued as he sunk 6 of 8 three point shots on the night.

The Energy shot 8 of 16 from behind the arc, and forced 17 BayHawk turnovers in the game. Forward Cartier Martin added 24 point for the victors, while Othyus Jeffers notched 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Erie, who fell to 10-12 on the season, was led by Maureece Rice's 26 points.

Iowa and Erie will play again on Sunday in Erie at 6pm Central.

The Energy return to Des Moines on Tuesday vs. Tulsa at 7pm. That game is "Two for One Tuesday" as all Sideline tickets will be available on a two for the price of one basis. High scoring Grinnell College will play in the pregame at 5pm.

Group and single game tickets to all are available by calling 515-462-2849 or visiting www.iowanba.com.
