Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Dakota Wizards outrebounded the Sioux Falls Skyforce 49-36 in their 106-91 victory Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. This marks the fourth consecutive home loss for the Skyforce.
The Skyforce (13-11) trailed by seven to start the fourth quarter, but a 6-1 run pulled them to within two at 89-87 with nine minutes to play. Dakota (15-10) then took advantage from the free throw line, converting on all 10 attempts in the last eight minutes and outscored the Sioux Falls 17-2 to earn the victory.
"I thought our interior people tonight were the key to the game," Wizards head coach Duane Ticknor said. "Benson came off the bench and had 15 rebounds, and I think our bigs did a great job and made the difference more than the perimeter did tonight."
Dakota's Blake Ahearn led all scorers with 30 points and was 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Maurice Baker contributed 18 points and Renaldo Major had 17. Richard Hendrix recorded a double-double with a game-high 17 rebounds and 16 points, while Benson added 15 rebounds.
Glen McGowan led the Skyforce with 16 points with Kasib Powell adding 13.
The Skyforce will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Energy on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT. The Wizards will visit the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
